Privacy policy

Akawo Manager is run by Micro E-pay in Lagos, Nigeria. We are responsible for the records you and your members create in the product.

• Your account. Name, email, phone, business name, the location details you type, and whether the business email was verified.
• Your staff. Name, employee ID, role, department, branch, phone, and a transaction PIN stored as a hash.
• Your members. Whatever you record: name, username, phone, wallet balance and every entry against them. Members who log in themselves add their own access records.

We also record what happens in the ledger: amounts, dates, entry type, status, payment method label, branch, who recorded it and the commission on it. Proof-of-payment images a member uploads. SMS logs with the destination number and status. And an audit entry for every staff, role or department change, with the before and after values, IP address and user agent.

There is no field for card numbers, bank login details or national ID numbers, so we do not hold them.

To run the service you signed up for, and for nothing else:

• so a balance is the same number for you, your staff and your member;
• so an agent only opens the branches and members their role allows;
• so a member can check their own book without calling you;
• so the SMS and email notices you enable can be sent;
• so we can bill you and hold the limits of your plan;
• so misuse of a staff account can be traced to a person and a time.

We do not sell it, rent it, hand member records to advertisers, or use them to train third-party models.

• Termii sends SMS and sees the destination number and message body.
• Brevo sends transactional email, including your daily report and its attachment.
• MicroEPay and Payscribe handle payments: invoices you pay, and the virtual account a saver is issued.
• Cloudflare delivers the site and sees request metadata.
• YouTube serves the walkthrough on the demo page, and only from youtube-nocookie.com when you press play; a visit that never plays it sends YouTube nothing.
• Meta measures advertising on our public marketing pages only, never inside your ledger.

Each one gets the slice it needs to do that job, not your whole book.

Akawo Manager is record-keeping software. When you record a deposit, no money moves through us; we write down what you tell us happened.

The one place a payment rail is involved is the savings product, where a saver may be given a virtual account issued through our payment partner. Funds paid into it sit under that partner's banking arrangement, not ours.

For as long as your business is on the platform. If a plan expires, gated actions stop and say so, but the records stay.

Archiving a member keeps their history and hides them. Deleting a member removes their transactions, cards, wallet and loans. A nightly job archives the platform database; those archives are held by our team and not published.

You can ask to see what we hold about your business, correct it, or have it deleted. Ask for an export and we produce a transaction CSV ourselves and send it to you; self-service export is not built into the product yet, so this is a manual job we do for you.

Your members have the same rights over their own records. Send those requests to us and we act on them. If we cannot settle something with you directly, you may raise it with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

• The site is served over HTTPS.
• Access tokens last five hours; refresh tokens last a day, rotate, and can be revoked.
• Transaction PINs are hashed and lock after repeated wrong attempts.
• Permissions carry scopes: global, branch, department or own. A query outside a scope returns nothing rather than an error.
• Balance figures are hidden from staff without the balance permission; recorded amounts stay readable so the book can still be checked.

No system is impenetrable. If we become aware that member records in our custody were reached without authorisation, we will tell the affected businesses rather than sit on it.

The product needs two cookies: a session cookie and a CSRF protection cookie. Without them you cannot log in. The demo request form keeps a small record in your session so the next page can greet you by name.

Our public marketing pages load the Meta Pixel for advertising measurement; it sets Meta's own cookies and receives no member records. The product dashboard carries no advertising tracker.

Akawo Manager is sold to adults running a business, and we do not knowingly hold records of children. If you add minors to your book, that record is yours to manage and you are responsible for it.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we say so here with the date. Continued use after that date means the new version applies.
